High-Speed Steel T42 Bars contain around 1.40-1.60% Carbon, 12.0-14.0% Tungsten, 4.0-5.0% Chromium, 1.5-2.0% Vanadium, 0.3-0.6% Molybdenum, and small Cobalt and Silicon contents. Such a composition is characterized by outstanding hardness, usually around 70 HRC after heat treatment, and also excellent wear resistance. T42 steel has high red hardness with strength and sharpness at elevated temperatures, and it is excellent for high-speed cutting and tooling.
