Nitronic 30 bar and rod a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with about 30-35% chromium, 0.25-0.45% carbon, 3-5% molybdenum, 0.8-1.2% silicon, 0.8-1.2% manganese, with traces of nickel and nitrogen. It possesses a high corrosion resistance especially by chlorides that tend to induce stress corrosion cracking; besides it provides strength even in elevated temperatures. The mechanical properties of Nitronic 30 involve high tensile strength with typical values being approximately 85,000 psi or about 586 MPa while its yield strength will be approximately 45,000 psi or 310 MPa. It also exhibits good fatigue strength and toughness. It is suited for use in aggressive environments such as chemical processing and marine applications.
